Imagine everyone10455248_10100106449431792_664151367443553821_n coming to your summer wedding reception, sitting outside where dinner is to be served, when all of a sudden swarms of flying insects are landing on your guests and crawling around on the tablecloth! Wait, don’t scream! With careful planning your wedding won’t be a horror movie because there are ways to beat the heat and keep bugs at bay too.

Beat the Heat

For extremely hot venues, it’s a good idea to provide shade for your guests and plug in some large, portable commercial-grade fans or install a misting system that will keep everyone cool. Shade can be provided by a large tree, a canopied tent or a gorgeous, flowering arbor. If that’s not possible, then provide parasols and personalized fans.

Don’t Get Bugged

By circulating the air, flying insects will naturally avoid your event anyway but just in case, you can provide individual spray bottles of insect repellant or have citronella candles burning in beautiful candleholders on every table.

Lastly, remember your guests have dressed up in your honor. Hopefully the men are in lightweight linen and the women in cool, summer dresses but you might remind them to remove jackets and kick off their shoes on the dance floor. Though the champagne is flowing, they should also remember to drink a lot of water and stay hydrated. Having guests pass out at your wedding is a lot worse than a few bugs. Remember this is your wedding and it’s going to be the most romantic day of your life.

Polo matches and practices are NOW OPEN to spectators.
